The process begins with a "cut off" or "blank" which is cut from the original coil of wire.
The blank is then struck on the end and forms the beginning shape of the head. This is called "coning."
Next, the second part of the two-blow sequence forms the final head configuration.
If the screw is to be slotted, the high speed saws and deburring equipment completes the process.
The threads are then rolled on to finish the manufacture of the screw.
